Biography

Susan Levin was born and raised in Alabama the Beautiful. She understands people's apprehensions about Alabama and the deep south but highly recommends a visit and a look into its rich history related to the Civil Rights Movement. After this, and only after this, are you allowed to make fun of the South. Not that people should make fun of anything, but I'm tired of people's geographical opinions when they've never even left New England or the Rocky Mountains or the West Coast or where ever. Ok, wait, my bio . . .

Susan went to college at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She can't rattle off basketball statistics, but she is a Tarheel fan through and through. She graduated with a BA in Journalism, which is shocking because she can't write in a journalistic style to save her life.

She minored in religious studies, which isn't so shocking because she was raised in Alabama as half Methodist half Jewish. She was confused and scared that half of her soul and family were going to roast for eternity in a fiery pit, so she decided to look into it more carefully.

She has lived in such exciting places as Durango, Denver, Key West, Maui, New York City, Seattle, Beijing, and then finally back to New York City. She's glad to be back although she misses her China-obsessed boyfriend who is still in China learning Chinese stuff.

Susan became vegetarian in college ('92) and vegan in Key West ('95), ethical reasons. She's quite pleased with herself about this but in a reserved way, she thinks.

This way of life lead to an interest in nutrition and eventually back to school, basically starting from scratch, where it took her a whopping 6 years to finally get a masters in science and become a registered dietitian.

Now she has letters after her name and again finds that she is pleased with herself.
