Q:
Susan-
Hello! Quick question, do you have any recommendations as far as diet/nutrition for somebody who has Parkinson's Disease? My father has had the disease for close to 10 years, any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-
Alan
A:
Alan?! Don't I know you? Didn't I work with you in CH? And haven't we NOT spoken for 12 years? What, no hello how ya doing?
Anyway, I am going to look into Parkinson's. There's always stuff popping up about food that helps although I'm not so sure how sound the research is on it. I'm going to get back to you . . . please hold the line.

Hey SueDawg!
Yup, we worked together at the Weathervane many years back, how the heck are you?? I'm in Chapel Hill working for a non-profit in Hillsborough, I have been back in NC for about 4 years. Last I heard you were in Hawaii, no Key West, no Wyoming...hard to keep those feet still!
Anywho, any info on Parkinsons would be helpful. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey Alan! Old golfing buddy! Back in NC, aye? Well, if I had known that, I would have looked you up. Next time!
I have some good information for you from a recent study conducted at Georgetown. I hope it helps. I'll send you the long and short of it in a separate email. But in a nutshell, the recommendation is to eat very low protein during the day and then have a high-protein meal before bedtime. Apparently, the proteins interact with medication making symptoms worse. Having the protein at night won't lessen the symptoms, but they will occur while the person is sleeping. I'd like to send you the detailed version in an email if that's ok.
Keep in touch!
